Limbo

It is that odd time of the year between Christmas and New Year when everyone doesn't quite know what to do with themselves....

Personally today I've tried to slog away at the two essays I have to write before the 5th of Jan....then got distracted when two of my best friends swung by the house and took me out for coffee and some sales browsing. Love them.

I was strangely drawn to all these images today. So wrong in some ways but oh so right as well. The hair and strikingly bold makeup is quite fabulous...

Pretty Pictures

Love these illustrations and designs by Chrissie Abbott.

All of her collage and drawing work is just amazingly beautiful, fun and witty. I love the combinations of black and white photographs amongst bold and colourful illustration. As well as the surreal colour choices in the collages that just shout retro-psychedelic magicalness.

Wake Up Screaming

Wow...my brain feels like it could explode. All day in the library staring at my laptop is no way to spend the holidays.

Vintage Twiggy in Black and White...? Much better.

...and because I love anything to do with Ron and Harry so much.

TV Talk

Being a student there are a few television programmes that you are required to watch point blank...these range from the X factor, The Only Way is Essex, Eastenders, The Apprentice, The Inbetweeners. In my opinion The Misfits should be up there too. I could watch it again and again (which I often have!)

The second series had been even better than the first. I love the way it is shot and each of the characters and storylines are always kooky, unexpected and fabulous. I used to love Nathan the best, but since this series Simon had grown an infinite amount in my mind! The Christmas special left it at a great cliffhanger...the next series cannot come quick enough!

I love red because...

...no idea. But I love it nonetheless.

I always find I am attracted to red. My bedroom at home in Cambridge is half red with a huge orange sun and half blue with stars. That is if you can see anything underneath the photos and decorative debris i've stuck up over the last several years.

My wardrobe has many red garments from tops, dresses, shoes and even three pillarbox red jumpers let alone lipstick and accessories. One of my favourite red items is my Cambridge Satchel Company red satchel. It was a present from the girls I worked with two years ago at a small vintage clothing and beautiful trinket shop in Cambridge called Ark. We sold the satchels in the shop and when the red version arrived I got very excited and insisted on wearing it whilst working. I was over the moon when I recieved it as my leaving gift! Since then the Cambridge Satchel Company has been doing amazingly...I've noticed it popping up on my perusals of ASOS and Urban Outfitters as well as in the style sections of various magazine...even on vogue.com!

Anyway my love for red hit a stalemate with other fine shades when I dyed my hair red just over a year ago...too much red apparently can be a bad thing I found. But on the otherhand being a redhead is definately more fun!

Ariel is just such a babe!

Paper Cuts

Rob Ryan is a favourite of mine. He is an Illustrator who does intricate paper cuts and screenprints. His work is always whimsical but with an edge of reality and so feels ultimately relatable, kind of like poetic and beautiful self help. I like that his work spans all kind of media from lazer paper cuts, screen prints, ceramics, greetings cards, advertsements, book and magazine illustrations and even his own sticky tape. He sells his stuff on Etsy   which is super. I just get the vibe that he is such a cool guy...not to mention I have been asking for his book since my last birthday...big hint there relatives!

Wow...six sleeps till christmas. Excited?

Words and Pictures

Hello, welcome...this is basically a collection of whatever I like, love, hate etc. in terms of culture, life and the world.

Something I'm really looking forward to is an upcoming exhibition of a collaboration between Tracy Emin and the sadly passed away Louise Bourgeois. Bourgeois gave Emin a number of half finished prints of her drawings intending Emin to finish them and the results are being exhibited during February and March at Hauser & Wirth Colnaghi . Big fan of both these women...sneak peak?

I love the use of text under the images. It reminds me of a t-shirt design website if found some time last year named I Love Boxie that does t-shirts printed with slogans created from stories that people send in. I love just browsing though the texts on the t-shirts trying to figure out the back story...I never do guess them right.
